On-site advertising – effectively increase voucher sales

e-guma marketingtools

In this article, you will learn why on-site advertising in restaurants, hotels, wellness oases and the like is so important and we will reveal our favourite in-house marketing tips to increase sales of your vouchers.

Tobias Reichgruber, customer advisor of the e-guma Customer Success Team, has a fitting picture on the subject of on-site advertising:

“Many restaurateurs offer their guests seasonal or festive specialities at different times of the year and holidays and specifically point this out to their guests. Be it as a note on the menu, on a separate sheet or directly at service. Whether it’s game and chanterelles in autumn or asparagus in spring, some guests are keen to try seasonal dishes if they are made aware of them. However, if the extra specials are not offered directly, hardly anyone will ask for them of their own accord.”

Conversely, this means for your vouchers: draw attention to all your offers, including your vouchers! Don’t wait until your guests ask for them themselves.

Clever placement of voucher advertising

There are a variety of ways to advertise your vouchers on site. For example, the information can be placed directly where your guests come into contact with your other offers.

  • Reference to your voucher offer in the menu or on an extra sheet of paper
  • Reference to your voucher offer on chalkboards and customer stoppers
  • Reference to your voucher offer on screens and monitors
  • Reference to your voucher offer in the hotel, room or guest folder – have you organised the information from A-Z? Then your voucher offer should definitely be noted under G!
  • Voucher advertising in sanitary facilities, garages, lifts
  • Reference to your voucher offer on the invoice and receipt

Use situations where your guests are bored for a moment

It’s been a long evening. There’s been good food and possibly a beer or glass of wine or two, there’s a good chance that your guests will visit the toilet during their visit. Not necessarily exciting, but necessary. Take advantage of this short time when your guests’ attention is focused on nothing more interesting and hang advertisements for your vouchers directly on the toilet door or in the lift. Give your guests something exciting to read!

Another opportunity is short waiting times: Is it check-out time at your hotel at 10:00 a.m. and it happens that your guests have to wait a moment at reception? Then why not inform your guests about your voucher offer directly at reception with a display or flyer. If they were satisfied with their stay, they may be happy to surprise their loved ones with one.

Vouchers for a Sunday brunch, for example, can be advertised particularly well to your guests during or after they have enjoyed the delicious brunch themselves. On the day of the brunch, put up small notices about your voucher offer at the buffet, at the cloakroom, by the toilets, etc.
