«Cross-selling is our main goal.»
Integrating vouchers and products into a single system is an attractive way to boost sales and increase guest loyalty. With the new e-guma product shop, tourism businesses can offer their guests additional products directly online and thus tap the full potential for cross-selling. The Art Deco Hotel Montana in Lucerne is already using this innovative solution successfully and initial results are positive.

Deciding on the e-guma product shop
«We were basically waiting for the shop and there was no question of whether we would use it,» says Franziska Zurmühle, Head of Marketing & Sales. The trusted partner and the simple backend of the e-guma voucher system were decisive advantages for the hotel. However, the focus was primarily on the cross-selling potential. «We want to sell the products together with our vouchers – cross-selling is our main goal.»

Previously, the hotel had only sold products online to a limited extent and in a complicated way. However, with the new product shop from e-guma, the hotel was able to create a user-friendly and visually appealing shop that now includes a wide array of products. The selection ranges from high-quality seasoning salt and orange pepper through fine oils and vinegars, to wine and cigars. The hotel’s own toiletries line with shampoo, soap and body lotion is also available. «It is important to us that the products are high-quality and beautifully branded. We don’t want cheap gadgets,» explains Franziska Zurmühle.
The right steps to get started
Before the shop went live, the Art Deco Hotel Montana created a detailed factsheet and precisely documented the ordering process. One important point was the internal organisation: «The challenge lies in an order’s internal process. Who is responsible, who dispatches the goods, etc.? This is now done by our front office team,» says Franziska Zurmühle.
Targeted advertising: the product shop as an additional sales driver
The hotel is relying on several channels to promote the new web shop. Guests are informed about the product shop on the hotel website, in newsletters, via social media and in pre-stay mailings. «We also advertise on site – for example, on a tablet in the room and directly at reception,» states Franziska Zurmühle. This makes the product shop easily accessible to guests at all times.
Advantages of the e-guma product shop: an all-in-one system
A major advantage of the e-guma product shop is its integration with vouchers and tickets. «With e-guma, we have a single tool for everything – vouchers, events and products. This makes the whole process much easier,» says Franziska Zurmühle. The seamless order processing, simple payment process and user-friendly backend impress both employees and guests. «The purchase process is incredibly easy and pleasant for guests. The system is also quick for new employees to learn,» explains Franziska Zurmühle. «We are very happy with e-guma overall,» she summarises. «The system works smoothly and the support is excellent.»
